If you are considering bees as a hobby or as a sideline business, there are things you will want to keep in mind before making that decision. Since there are many factors involved with making money with the honeybees produce, you might want to start doing it as a hobby. There is a significant amount of money in the start-up of beekeeping. Before investing any amount of money in your beekeeping project, you might want contact beekeepers in your area. As a rule, they will more than happy to share their experience with you. Most beekeepers love keeping bees and to them it is just a “hobby”, but they can give you some insight into beekeeping. Take plenty of notes. More likely than not you will need them.

In making the decision of becoming a beekeeper, you will want to consider the safety of family, friends, and neighbors. You wouldn’t want someone to get stung that is allergic to bee stings. The best course of action on that account is to ask your neighbors and friends, if any of them are allergic to bees. You will also be able to find out if there might be someone who would not like beehives so close to their proximity. You will also want to check with the county you live in. You will want to know about any ordinances or laws prohibiting beekeeping.

You will also want to consider whether or not you have a location that would be conducive to maintaining bees. You will also want to consider where the bees will have to fly to retrieve nectar and pollen. Keeping plants they like close by is not a bad idea either. Since bees need water every day, you might want to have water for them close at hand. You don’t want them visiting the neighbor’s swimming pool. Here is a list of spots unacceptable to the health of the bees. Read the rest of this entry »

RECENTLY, while workers were excavating an ancient walled city in Manila, they found an old cannon still loaded with live ammunition. Suddenly, the workers scrambled out of the excavation. Because of the cannon? No, because they had found a pile of snakes eggs, and parent snakes sometimes stay near their eggs until they hatch. The cry went out, Be careful, snakes! The workers feared the snakes more than the loaded cannon.

Unless you live in Ireland, New Zealand, some isolated islands, or areas of permanently frozen subsoil like the Arctic, there are snakes in your country. But the greatest profusion is in the tropics, and in the Philippines they are very common. However, of the almost 3,000 known varieties fewer than 200 are dangerous to man.

Examination reveals snakes to be a valuable part of the creation, albeit one to be treated with caution. They come in all sizes, from a slim six inches (15 cm) long to a bulky 40 feet (12 m). They are cold-blooded, meaning that their body temperature changes with the temperature of their surroundings. They are not slimy to the touch. Rather, their shiny scales feel dry and tough. When I was at the second form, I came across this tale for the first time.I must confess that everytime I read this tale the tears came into my eyes and run down my cheeks. Now I would like to share this impressive tale with you. This tale is a legend about a swan.
“There was a mother who had 3 sons. This good-natured mother always treated her children very kindly.Once she fell ill,she felt thirst and she was so sick that, she couldn’t even get up from her bed.In this case she called her oldest son and asked him to give her a glass of water to drink. But the boy said: “Oh ,mom I am going out, I’ve a lot to do.Call my brothers!”and so he went out.
The poor mother called her middle son,but he did not give water to his ill mother too.Hopeless mother called her youngest son, who was playing in the yard with kids. When the boy came in ,the weak mother said: “Oh,my dear,I am parched with thirst, could you give me a drop of water to drink, please.”
The boy in a hurry voice: “Oh, Mum how you can stop my playing. Why you don’t ask my brothers.”
“Oh,my dear, they had to go.” The weak mother whispered.
“Now I must go.Take yourself please.” The boy said and run. Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes it is cool to forget just how coupled we are to Earth and her charming beings. Occasionally, a remarkable experience reminds me how wholly we are all coupled.

Last month, my companion and I attended a class in Las Vegas. We intended some beyond time before, and after the tutorial to do a little exploring. Neither of us had been to Las Vegas. The lodge across the street from where we were staying boasted over two hundred waterfalls (The Mirage). It also home to some windswept animals (lions and tigers, etc) worn in one of the shows there. Another disrupt was that this lodge home to a small pod of dolphins and a baby dolphin had been born there five months ago. We resolute to go to see them.

The dolphins amuse three connecting pools. When we indoors, the team gave us an introduction to the service, describing how to find our way around, and a bit of the dolphins’ practice. The workforce cooperate with the dolphins at several time throughout the day for feeding, live, exercising and observing. My understanding about dolphins is that they are well intelligent and have a sentient consciousness like we do. That means that they are characters-informed, like us. Read the rest of this entry »

The Natural Habits of the Deer

Under some conditions, deer walking in the woods will blend into their surroundings so well that the hunter who sees them will be uncertain as to what he has seen. In bad light the deer even just disappears. The deer seems to understand that man rely on their eyes to sight them. In the few localities where the Virginia deer is found, it is necessary to use slightly different hunting methods. And hunting in different climatic conditions could also influence the way you hunt.

Deer seem to know that humans depend on eyes to locate game and consequently the deer will often depend on natural camouflage for protection instead of resorting to flight with its attending danger of running into other unexpected danger. They seem to be especially reluctant to leave their beds while they are digesting a recently eaten meal and a hunter can often approach them by walking on a course that will bring him within gun range, but which is not directly towards the animal. If they can be persuaded that the hunter has not seen them, and is not interested in them, their reluctance to move may permit quite a close approach. Feeding and traveling deer are not as apt to depend on camouflage and will usually resort to flight as soon as they have positively identified any approaching danger. Read the rest of this entry »

Peacocks & Penguins

Twelve years ago I read a small book that was far from the kind of reading that I’d normally read. I was ten years into having started a church, and I was seeing that the changes I had made from a denomination to a charismatic church weren’t enough. There was more. I didn’t FIT in the denomination, nor could I wear Saul’s charismatic armor.

The book was entitled, “A Peacock in the Land of Penguins”.

The COLORFUL Spirit that I felt and embraced didn’t match with the BLACK-n-WHITE constraints of this instead of that, ours and not theirs, as well as believe and don’t question! However, I had questions! I had doubts about things that I was told I could not question. When something didn’t make sense, I had simply been told to JUST BELIEVE.

That’s like telling a Peacock to paint their feathers black and white.

On top of that my “nature” was to question and to embrace all sides of an issue and not just that which I’d grown up with and thought unquestionable. I received a college scholarship because of my debate skills in high school. I attribute my success in part because of my debate coach. In my first debate, I was told I’d be opening the debate on the AFFIRMATIVE. So, I prepared all of the reasons why the question would work. Read the rest of this entry »

Try as you might, you can’t avoid them – promotional products are everywhere. Companies are finding out that if they give a little – say, a tee-shirt, a water bottle, or a magnet with the company’s logo emblazoned across the front – they can get a lot in return. Giveaway items branded with a company’s logo and business information can help increase a product or a business’s visibility, introduce a new brand, or just remind current and potential customers that a company is still eager to work for them.

But what about the businesses that don’t have the budgets to give posters to the first 20,000 fans at a baseball game? Now, thanks to offers like the Owl Wallet Light’s Printed Promotional Edition, small business owners don’t have to stay on the bench. The principle in this case is simple: companies take this already popular product – the Owl Optical Wallet Light is a credit-card-sized combination light and magnifying device that helps people illuminate and enlarge small print – and, through a simple purchasing option available through the Owl Light’s distributors, supply company information that they’d like printed on the product. The Wide World of Wolf

big

We humans love our pets. We dress them up, take them to doggie day cares, and even carry them around in little suitcases made especially for them. However, when these little darlings are larger than life, you may not be able to keep them with you as your arm candy. But that is okay because we still love our babies no matter how big or wild they might be. Did you know though, that Fido’s relatives are seen as predators that are feared all over the world? That is right. The wolf has for many years been seen as an aggressive animal that will attack without warning. But is this stereotype true? Can it be true of a family pet’s cousin?

Since the beginning of time, the Native Americans have been associating their lives with that of animals in the wildlife kingdom. One of the most misunderstood of these animals is the wolf. For years, the wolf has been seen as an aggressor, when in reality they are very loving and social creatures. This side of the animal was first seen by the tribes of the Americas. The Native American tribes recognized this and they have incorporated the wolf into many of their myths and legends. The wolf will forever be associated with the Native Americans, and learning more about this relationship can help one to better understand the world of Native Americans. The Fox

The Modern English “fox” is derived from Old English with the same spelling, the Old English word itself comes from the Proto-Germanic word “*fukh”, compare German “Fuchs”, Gothic “fauho”, Old Norse “foa” and Dutch “vos”, which corresponds to the Proto-Indo-European word “*puk” meaning “tail” (compare Sanskrit “puccha” meaning “tail” as well). The bushy tail is also the source of words for “fox” in Welsh (”llwynog”, from “llwyn” meaning “bush”).

Most foxes live 2 to 3 years but can survive for up to 10 years, or even longer, in captivity. Foxes are generally smaller than other members of the family Canidae such as wolves, jackals, and domestic dogs. Fox-like features typically include an acute muzzle (a “fox face”) and bushy tail. Other physical characteristics vary according to their habitat. For example, the Desert Fox has large ears and short fur, whereas the Arctic Fox has small ears and thick, insulating fur. Another example is the Red Fox which has a typical auburn pelt ending normally with white marking. Read the rest of this entry »
